Service In God’s House Protects and Offers Long Life

Many myopic believers may have seen giving as mainly in the form of offering cash to God. However matured Christians know that giving goes beyond offering fiscal cash. There is the belief that, if your money doesn’t go, your service must go. There are persons in the house of God who are not mentioned when it comes to cash. Those who know their positions often gives a helping hand before they are called. It pretty suggests that, in the absence of money, your service can go.

Bible says in Colossians 3:23-24: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ”. There are people in the house of God who in truth do not possess financial prowess. Their lives might have been very average financially for persons who may be on a particular journey in life. Others may have been going through genuine financial trials for a great lifting tomorrow. For others, the very door for job appointment and business opportunity may not have materialized yet but they are believers and intelligent ones who knows the value of service in God’s house, channel their energies there for the mean time.

It can be discouraging or demoralizing if what you’re waiting for has not come but bible encourages us to do it heartily.  Heartily means happily with all of your heart. There are people who serve in God’s house as if they are crazy. It became like a zeal when they came to understand service in God’s house. People realize they are made for service when they start it. The drive and the excitement in their hearts explains it all. They don’t struggle to serve and those are the persons that can serve heartily. However in the house of God, nothing must be done grudgingly so that it doesn’t matter how the believer feels. He must find a way to find the joy of Lord in the midst of trouble whiles he serves and the spirit of God will take over.

Men can provoke the believer in his genuine service of God. It’s all an attempt to try the believer’s patience in God. If you’re not careful, the believer can suddenly feel he is serving men. Indeed what he does benefits the church, but the church is just an avenue to display his service to God and the believer must constantly remind himself of this. The victory is when the believer remains calm and focused in his service with a good heart even in provocation. If you’re counting the days, it may never come but if the believer handles his days better, the day of glorification could come sooner than expected. The believer must have witness in his heart throughout the process that, he will receive the reward at the end.

Church workers who age and are still actively in church is a product of the grace of God. Service gives long life and in effect, protects the believer from untimely deaths and strange attacks. Service and its intangible rewards is one of the ways the hedge is kept around the believer. Anything done with the heart offers so much that money cannot pay and God has a way he rewards pricelessly. That is the long life which in effect becomes a hedge around the believer’s life. Remember King Hezekiah turned to God and asked for extension of his life because he served God (Isaiah 38:2-5). He referred God to his service that prolonged his life.
