You are Able to Overcome the Tricks of the Devil: God has Empowered You

Active Opposition: Satan hates God’s law and authority, aiming to lead humanity into deception and sin. Rebellion against Law: Satan attempts to discredit God’s law, specifically challenging the permanence of the commandments. Subject to God’s Power: Despite this, Satan is not autonomous; he is a creature subject to judgment and exists only by God’s sustaining power. Forced Limits: Satan cannot act beyond the limits God allows, and God maintains authority over evilLiterature

Insight

The Word of God is powerful. The bible says ‘it is sharper than two-edged swords’ (Hebrews 4:12b). It destroys the works of the devil. When you say “I destroy the works of the devil in Jesus Name, do you know how powerful it is? There is power in the name of Jesus through the knowledge of His word.

The word of God is like fire and hammer (Jeremiah 23:29). In spiritual contest in movies, you see people on the side of God unleashing fire through their prayers. Just as hammer is used to break into pieces, the bible uses physical things to explain how authentic and prolific the word of God is. When you say “I break the works of the devil against my life in Jesus name”, spiritually, you are demolishing the works of the devil. This is the reason the devil hates Gods law because the word of God is against his evil works. The word comes hard at the devil to destroy his works because that is the ambition of Christianity since he lost his holy place in heaven.

The devil also hates God’s authority because that is the supreme position he fought. When you want to lead the organization, anytime you see your boss, you get angry. Such persons cannot stand the orders of their bosses. Some leaders rule with iron-fist and are authoritarian in their approach. Staffs who fear such bosses, demonstrate their fears by being opposing. For such staffs, vehemently resisting is a way to prove how powerful they are. However, it is a form of weakness rather.

By disrespecting God’s authority, the primary aim of the devil is to deceive God’s subjects, you and I. ‘Did God really say you shouldn’t eat of the tree? The devil twisted the question back to Eve. If Eve knew, her answer should have been, “God says we should not eat it” That is it. The word ‘really’ means, are you sure God said you should not eat of the tree or you didn’t hear well? It is possible Adam and Eve may not have heard well so the enemy used a word that would open up the discussion to rethink to find space to disobey.

You knew you mustn’t stay in the gathering that gratifies the flesh, yet the enemy found a reason to find no other place than to take your fresh air there. And then you begin to inhale the cigarette smoke, sit in the atmosphere of indecent music, bad language and the rest because you decided to take your fresh air in bad company. When you see and hear these, you should know immediately that it is time to vacate the place. You know the dress you wore does not promote your Christianity but because you still have a bit of the world inside you that appreciates such styles, you wore it.

Remember that, deception is to present the issue in a way for you to accept it even though it is wrong. The devil appeared to Eve in the form of a serpent. He could have come like a normal human being. Have you thought about this? That is the devil’s mode of deceiving people. You mustn’t see it because if you know the truth, you will escape and be set free. His plan is to keep us in perpetual darkness. The word of God means the same but in your experience, the enemy is saying God is a liar. The enemy’s plan is to worsen the situation to make it look as if God cannot solve the problem. Mature! Let God remain true but every man (and problem) a liar (Romans 3:4).

The Ten Commandments was actually to guide the people of God. However, the same thing for which Moses climbed unto Mount Sinai to receive the physical evidence of the commandments, he came down only to meet his people worshipping graven images, loving themselves and engaging in all manner of unlawful things. You see, it is not as if you do not know the right thing but the sin in you is the problem. The increasing desire in you to do the wrong thing is your major problem. It doesn’t matter if the scripture is opened to you in black and white. You cannot stand the urge to disobey.

For instance it says, thou shall not serve any other God apart from your God but for you, when ‘knot’ comes to ‘knot’ you find solutions elsewhere. ‘Thou shall not covet their neighbor’s house’ but indeed you changed your friend’s name on his land document and made it yours as a caretaker. You’re falsely arguing the matter at the law court but truth be told, you don’t have a case. ‘Thou shall not covet their neighbor’s wife’ but you have blindly taken his wife and made it yours. Be careful. The road to perpetual ruin is so close to you.

‘In all these things, we are more than conquerors’ bible reminds us in (Romans 8:37). Bible assures us that, this battle with the devil to prevail in our Christian walk will come to an end one day. Bible says in the final verses of the book of Revelations that, the devil after all the atrocities he commits would be judged by the Almighty God. He will be judged according to all the things he provoked you to do. Indeed it is evil that incites the devil and he is the originator. For his evil works to come to a halt, he has to be judged and kept in everlasting darkness. So God is not against you per se. Yet you have a responsibility to defend your faith to the very end. So fight for it.

Understand that bible says, ‘No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it’ (1 Corinthians 10:13). Whoever the devil is and in all he does, he is limited because his actions against God’s children are controlled by his creator. God is the God of all. Be encouraged by this.
