Understanding Who God Is To Have Victory over Unrighteousness

A righteous God operates by maintaining absolute holiness, impartiality, and justice, while offering justification through faith in Jesus Christ, rather than by human works. His righteousness works to declare believers righteous (justification), set them apart for holy lives (sanctification), and impose justice against wickedness, according to- Literature credit: The Righteousness of God | Cities Church

In order for us to be able to know the wiles of the devil and reject him, we have to be knowledgeable in the way he operates. The truth of the matter is, the devil pries on our ignorance of who God is and uses it against us. Our victory therefore is to possess the knowledge of God. First we have to understand that, our God is a righteous God. ‘He who knew no sin became sin so that through Him, we might become the righteousness of God’ (2 Corinthians 5:21). We are righteous because our Almighty God is righteous. When the enemy accuses you, point at the cross (righteousness of God through his blood). But be responsible.

Bible says that our righteousness is like filthy rags before God (Isaiah 64:6). As humans, one sin is after another and so we are not impeccable. The day you start boasting, that is when the enemy refers your countless sins to God. It is always better for us to plead for Mercy through His blood to obtain his righteousness and stand blameless anytime the enemy goes to God with our case.

God is aware of his superior position that fights for us and so He has to constantly maintain His righteous stance. God has to be holier than you and I so that He can fight our battles. God has to be sinless in speaking on your behalf and therefore, he rejects anything that will not put Him in right standing. Human beings are partial but God is impartial. Why? Emotions. Our heart or feelings go to the people we love. In order not to hurt them, when they are even wrong, we say they are right. We honor people who look good and spite others with poor appearance. We give the fat meat to the persons at the high table and give the least to the persons down there. God is impartial. His blood is capable of setting Kings, Presidents, Chief Executives and ordinary citizens free. The same quality in every sense.

God wouldn’t say this one is a child so he should stay in trouble. If he requires deliverance, God gives deliverance. If he requires healing, God gives the same healing to all. God is ready to defend the Christian who is contending for his faith just a lawyer will defend his client at the court. The efficacy of God’s righteousness towards everyone is the same and we are equal before Him.

God is a God of principles. He follows order. God knows that, it is His Son who died and through His blood, salvation came to humanity. In fostering His righteous plan therefore, the sinner has to confess Christ in the name of His Son, Jesus to receive salvation. The sinner must believe that it is Jesus who died and through His shed blood in the confession of faith, he is made whole. The individual must fulfill this condition at his level to walk in his realm of righteousness. The new convert must walk in this consciousness all the time to remove the mindset of ‘by my power and my might’. It is easy to pat yourself on the shoulders and say, ‘I made it’ if he considers the struggle he faced before he gave in to his salvation.

Remember, it is justification through faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works. Without Jesus’s work on the cross that produced his superior righteousness, we wouldn’t have been made righteous. To stand righteous before God and be blameless before the devil, the believer must consecrate himself daily to stand righteous before God. How does he go about this? Constantly shunning evil. The believer must make deliberate effort to stay out of sin once he goes though consecration. Confess your sin however when you fall and keep going.

This deliberate practice maintains a strong relationship between you and your God so that, the devil cannot find any occasion to accuse you when you need the defense of your God. It is only when the believer is unwavering in his practice of maintaining his sanctification that God can pronounce justice against the wickedness of the devil against his life. That accident you escaped was because of your daily sanctification from sin. You’re continually protected because God has seen a measure of righteousness in you. You seem to be receiving favors because you’re walking right before God. Indeed you’re loved and cared for due to the deliberate effort to maintain spiritual sanctity. Always do your part and God will do His part.
