In Daniel chapter four (4) verses one to four, we saw King Nebuchadnezzar praising God in his Palace and shewing forth how great and mighty He is in His works and in his life. (‘…His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation..’).
Chapter four (4) verse 3b was an acknowledgement of God’s magnitude and the extent of his kingship. When we continually acknowledge that, our existence is due to the size of His wings that covers us, God’s divine hedge or wall of protection will forever remain with us.
In verse thirty (30) however of same Daniel chapter four, we saw King Nebuchadnezzar exalting himself and vainly boasting that, all that he was and all that he became was by his might…. The king spoke, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty? (Daniel 4:30). Before he could finish his lines, he had lost his kingdom.
What was the difference between the first Nebuchadnezzar that acknowledged the handiworks of God and the second personality that was boastful? Pride and arrogance. This is what often happen to men of today. It is often said that, you do not know the real man until he is full of wealth. … ‘it is only the foolish man who after he has eaten and his belly is full will say there is no God’. The fool says in his heart ‘there is no God’. (Psalms 14:1-5)
Bible theologians have propounded that HUMILITY is the second condition of ‘what’ must be fulfilled by the believer to keep the divine hedge of protection. The first condition targeted ‘who’ must fulfil the condition.
INSPIRATION
Usually God has to suffer men before He blesses them. This is to continually keep them at a place of humility. If a man thoroughly goes through God’s process of restoration, they are always remembered of His grace of making it through the hard and thistles of life. We have to consistently keep ourselves in check and meditate on the goodness of God to stay in humility of what He has done with our lives.
Continually acknowledging God in our breakthrough, makes Him head-swollen and He is highly motivated to do more which naturally keeps His divine hedge of protection over what He has helped our hands to acquire. Boastfulness, takes God out of our equation and immediately allows the enemy to enter through sometimes lack of contentment, anger or resentment, jealousy and hatred- these take the presence and spirit of God away and the enemy takes over to afflict and torment our lives.
