Resistance to God’s Will
Pharaoh’s spirit is defined by a stubborn refusal to submit to God, requiring a “raw, dramatic demonstration of power” to force its release of captives.
The story of the Israelites slavery in Egypt and Pharaoh’s attitude towards their deliverance presented a scenario where Pharaoh refused the Israelites many times before he finally gave in to their departure. God had to intervene with His heavy hand of visitation of killing the first born of Egypt before Pharaoh’s pride was broken to allow the Israelites to go to the promise land and worship their God. Pharaoh demonstrated a stubborn spirit as many theologians of the bible may define it.
There are a lot of believers in God’s house who are stubborn to the things of God. For instance, some believers can stay away from church for a while until they are struck with disaster before they run to the presence of God. A believer can defy God’s supreme will of marrying a believer until misunderstanding concerning their religious beliefs breaks up the marriage.
Submitting to God can be a very difficult thing. Submitting to God means suppressing your will and allowing God’s will to prevail in your life. For instance you know that, the path you are on is not a good one. Any believer who is at peace with God knows it. If you’re fellowshipping well with the brethren, you know it. Your heart convinces you. If you’re paying your tithe and giving your seed, you know it. If your prayer life is good, you know it. If your bible study is good, you know it as well. These spiritual activities defines the will of God in your life. You must know when God is calling you and it’s your obedience to Him that gives you inner peace.
We can see what God wants to happen in the life of the believer by the events that takes place. For instance you wish to become a medical practitioner but you ended up becoming an administrator or a businessperson because you did not meet the qualification requirements. The believer can blame such a misfortune on his incompetence or inefficiency in his study areas. Yes, it could be true but God used the setbacks in those subject areas to let his supreme will of career, job or business objectives of the believer to come through. It may have looked like failure initially but victory at the end. If you consider the blossoming nature of the sector you find yourself in at the moment and the gross decline in other business sectors, then you will know that God’s eternal will is perfect. He does not make mistakes.
Sometimes it is your desire to marry a particular kind of person. Naturally, people like things that are beautiful and attractive from the outside. And so you can be attracted by someone’s beauty. You can also be attracted by someone else handsomeness. These are natural tendencies. Unfortunately you’re having serious issues with your partner in relationship. It keeps recurring and deliberate efforts to make it work seem deteriorating every day. You’re holding on to it. The day you left that relationship, you felt a burden has been lifted off your shoulders. That is a sign that, it may not just be God’s marital will for your life.
The man is handsome but he has poor values. The woman is beautiful but her lips are uncontrollable- you know it. These are signs. The man is rich but suppressive. Maybe you have to consider the average man with personality and excellent values. Look in the direction of the modest lady whose tongue is tamed. When people resist God’s will, he uses force. If God knows that the house you’re marrying into has deep background issues that can complicate your marriage spiritually, he has a way of separating you before you enter into grave suffering. If God knows that, the lady is hiding something that can undermine or break the marriage in future, he can reveal that secret before you get into it. As well if the man has a second wife and has not disclosed to you, he can stop it before you enter and discover later.
